Canada Day, Family Reunion and Reset
Why Alberta Now newsletter publishing schedule - every Tuesday at 4pm Mountain Time
This past week was a reset for me.
Reset from setting up operation for a townhouse complex,
wrapping up on multiple year end tax returns,
closing on lots for future developments, etc.
June turned out to be a surprisingly busy month.
For the Canada Day long weekend,
we had a Family Reunion together from 4 different States.
We went on a 6 hour hike in Waterton National Park.
The hike should have been about 16km total,
except we got lost at a turn off.
Ended up adding almost 2k and 40 mins to the hike.
.
That's life isn't it?
We make our way,
from time to time,
we take a detour,
get lost,
feeling confused,
retrace our way back.
Go backwards,
then forward and upward again.
.
Investing in real estate is no different.
When the market was good,
many rode the wave up.
Then the market turned,
after interest rate went up.
For some,
they're taking a break.
For some,
they're reevaluating their future plans.
For some,
they're retracing their steps backwards.
Whatever they are,
we go where life takes us.
.

The view on the top of the summit was beautiful.
Last time I hiked this trail was close to 10 years ago.
At the top,
it puts things in perspective.
It's easy to get fixated on what we lost in time or efforts
and forget what we have accomplished.
Life is full of ups and downs.
When we understand that downs are part of the journey to get back up,
they no longer mean the same thing.
The journey is what makes life interesting.
I'm grateful to you for reading this.
You are part of my journey in this up cycle in Alberta.
At some point, there will be downs.
That's just how things go.
Most importantly,
enjoy this journey we call life with the people we love the most.
Even though the view at the top is worth pursuing for,
our loved ones are the ones who give us meaning to our lives.
.
Happy Canada Day (week) to everyone!
